A new Sandvik DL430-07 Underground Production Drill is the first item in the GBF Fleet Replacement Strategy to be carried out at the St Ives Gold Project.
This represents a significant milestone as the start of the new underground contract for GBF after the successful retention of the business partner agreement with Gold Fields Australia.
GBF currently employs over 280 personnel made up of management, operational, maintenance and apprentice personnel across the three underground sites located at the St Ives Project in Kambalda, Western Australia.
GBF’s success is down to hard work, industry experience, attention to quality, customer focus and most importantly, an eagerness to innovate.
GBF’s core business is the provision of contract underground mining and maintenance services as well as plant and labour hire.
The awarding of the contract to GBF is a testament to the successful relationship with the St Ives site which has seen GBF on site since 1995 as an underground consultant.
Further equipment replacement will take place over the next few months as well as additional purchases for the fourth underground decline at St Ives, Athena, scheduled for early November 2009.
